Our History

Southeast Schoonover Skins is a local native owned family company with roots in these same lands deeper then recorded history can measure. We live our lives in concert with the ever changing bounty of the seasons. My Wife Jessie and I raised our two beautiful daughters Alison and Amy in the nearby city of Juneau Ak. As a successful Carpenter and heavy equipment operator and Jessie an managing accountant we where able to give our girls a proper start in the world. It has been our life’s joy to watch them become caring, responsible adults, ready to take on the world!

Now with our jobs as parents complete we have returned to our homeland to finish where we both started so many years ago. I work for the Forest service in maintenance and Jessie can do her work remotely. Being back home is a big change from the rat race of the city. The oportunitys are of a different sort. Closer to the land and the creatures in it. The Harvesting of sea otters and the crafting of products stemmed from the need for solution to their rapidly rising numbers. Removing a few can hopefully lessen their impact on the sealife that we all depend on for food. The comfortably warm products that we can produce in the process is a bonus that I hope we can all share!
